Lean Plastics Technologies GmbH (LPT) stands tall in Ilmenau’s largest industrial area, Am Vogelherd, proudly occupying over 2500 m² of space in a former glass production plant. But this remarkable milestone wasn’t achieved overnight. Here is the thriving story of LPT, from
its humble beginnings to its current position at the forefront of innovation in plastic solutions for additive manufacturing (AM).
Inception and Innovation
Founded by Martin Langlotz and Matthias Düngen, LPT emerged from Ilmenau’s Technologie- und Gründerzentrum. Drawing from their expertise as scientists at the Technical University of Ilmenau, Martin and Matthias embarked on revolutionizing thermoplastic pulverization for additive manufacturing.
2018-2020: Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Milestones
The road to success was paved with challenges, but LPT remained undeterred. In 2018, the company was founded, laying the groundwork for groundbreaking innovations in plastic
powder production. By 2020, after relentless efforts and perseverance, LPT achieved a significant breakthrough: the successful production of the first particle of PE within the
desired size range.
2021-2022: Recognition and Expansion
In 2021, LPT’s dedication to innovation and excellence was recognized with the prestigious IQ Innovation Prize. This accolade not only affirmed LPT’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of additive manufacturing but also opened doors to new opportunities and partnerships.
2023: Scaling New Heights
With another successful funding round in 2023, LPT embarked on a journey of exponential growth and expansion. The team grew in size, reflecting the company’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. As LPT outgrew its incubator environment, it solidified its position as one of the leading innovators in thermoplastic pulverization processes.
